The community is designed to take advantage of the beautiful landscape of northern Durham County, including 140 homesites on the already cleared land with a preserved forest as a backdrop. The feature amenity, the organic farm, will offer residents all the benefits of growing one’s own food without any of the laborious responsibilities. In addition, over 100 acres of conserved forestland within the Wetrock Farm property will ensure the preservation of the beautiful landscape and indigenous species. Designed to be light on the land and take advantage of the area’s natural amenities, the community will connect residents back to their roots.
Wetrock Farm will cultivate the exchange of knowledge between the lead farmer, visiting educators, residents, and the local community. Residents will have the opportunity to receive advice from their local organic farmer, engage with one another to share experiences, and participate in educational classes. The community will redefine what sustainable living and well-being mean for North Carolinians. All of this is available within 20 minutes from Downtown Durham.
